"We commissioned Sally for several community climate action events. The results were of an exceptional standard. Sally has an uncommon knack of working with people and making them feel comfortable." Mark Leach, Bristol City Council |

"Sally is an absolute joy to work with... she captured our projects and participants with sensitivity and panache. We were so chuffed we immediately booked her in to take some more!" Ailsa, Bath Mind |

I can’t remember a time I didn’t love taking photos! I was always the one with a camera, documenting nights out, holidays or daily life. Whilst studying at what is now the Norwich University of Arts I fell in love with the magic of black & white film photography and darkroom processing and this still holds a special place in my heart. Over the years my style has evolved - with people in focus. My work is rooted in community, colour, heart and soul.
In 2010 I trained in Participatory Photography Facilitation with PhotoVoice and everything clicked - I'd found a way of combining my passion for photography with my interest in people and social justice. I was fizzing with ideas! A few months later I was living in Nepal, and had set up my first project in partnership with Women’s Foundation of Nepal, introducing the joy of photography to a group of amazing women who had never held a camera before in their lives. I've been fortunate enough to work and travel widely. Some favourite memories include photographing and filming an undercover documentary for Al Jazeera TV in West Papua, sun-drenched street photography in Cuba, photographing Syrian children in Cairo and documenting daily life in Nepal. I live in Bristol with my husband and daughter. Becoming a mother has profoundly shaped both my life and my work. I am interested in perinatal mental health, matrescence, and the connection between nature, creativity and wellbeing - I am continually exploring how photography can support and hold those experiences. I am available for projects and commissions both locally in the Bristol & Bath area, and worldwide. |
