"Sally is an excellent facilitator of socially engaged photographic practice. She brings a natural enthusiasm for working creatively with communities to help them embrace new ways of seeing the world. Sally works with a wide range of people supporting health and wellbeing, community engagement and creative visioning with fantastic results. I would thoroughly recommend working with Sally." Since training with PhotoVoice in 2010, I’ve facilitated hundreds of workshops with different groups and communities, with a particular interest in perinatal mental health and the connection between nature, creativity and wellbeing during this time.
Workshops support confidence building, self-advocacy, community connection and creative storytelling. From Photowalks and one-off creative workshops to longer participatory projects and groups, I love creating spaces where people can explore their lived experience and tell their own stories through images. |
I can't begin to put into words how much I enjoy this work! The magic never goes away.
Whether working with women who had never held a camera in their lives, leading groups of adults experiencing mental health difficulties on a Snap & Stroll photowalk, helping those in recovery tell their stories, engaging with history, exploring local landmarks, or a one-off session with in my local park to encourage community connection and reduce isolation in older people. Partnership working is key and I welcome new projects, large or small! |

"For me, attending the group has been extremely positive. The action of taking photos helps me to become mindful, present in the moment and truly relaxed. The process of observing - ‘truly observing’ - the outside world, breaks the cycle of being caught up with negative internal dialogue." Carolyn, Workshop Participant |

“Coming every week has given me an outside interest.. I have a much better outlook on life now” Irene, Workshop Participant |
